The Hairware Beautyware story began in Brisbane in 1986.
Founder Daryl Lloyd saw first hand the challenges of running a salon through the business owned by his wife, Trish.
At the time, there was no known software available in Australia that had been created specifically for hair and beauty businesses. Salons relied heavily on paper appointment books, handwritten client records and time-consuming manual processes.
Daryl saw an opportunity to create something better. Rather than adapting generic software developed for another industry, he created a system specifically around the everyday needs of salon owners and their teams.
It became known as Hairware and Beautyware. Software created specifically for the industries it was built to support.
Hairware and Beautyware was Australia’s first dedicated salon software system, pioneering purpose-built technology for the Australian hair and beauty industry.
New Ownership, Same Purpose
In 2010, HB moved into new Australian ownership while continuing to build on the foundations established by Daryl.
Today, HB remains proudly 100% Australian owned and operated, with the same fundamental purpose that inspired the original software:
